My fiancé and I stopped in here after taking engagement pictures on and around the bridge area nearby. I absolutely loved this place. Eating a meal here felt like being transported back in time and you could feel the history radiating out of the walls. I ordered the Wednesday special -- an open face beef sandwich with potatoes and gravy, and my fiancé order the Baxa burger. Both were very solid, and we left full and happy. In addition to the good food and atmosphere, the service was excellent. Our waitress was very welcoming and friendly. This place is a must-visit spot and represents quintessential small town Iowa!

Food was good. We had reubens with onion rings that we enjoyed along with strawberry rhubarb pie ala mode. The Sutliffe bridge and Cedar River are just across the street with nice stone benches to sit on. We look forward to going back.
